The Gallows Tree

Grupo Pesado

El árbol de la horca

El viento lo balanceaba
hay que recuerdo tan negro
era el cuerpo de mi padre
que tenia una soga al cuello
lo habian colgado el domingo
de las ramas de aquel cedro

Apenas tenia 10 años
lanzé mi llanto de niño
el perro tenia un balazo
lo supe por sus aullidos
pero arrastraba una espuela
que era de los asesinos

Señor pues le pertenece
o tal vez se le olvido
yo soy Jesús Maldonado
hijo de aquel que colgo
ya supondra los motivos
por los que lo busco yo

Despues de todo las leyes
no van a poder salvarlo
sus hijos no tienen culpa
pero eso no viene al caso
si usted no llega a las doce
tal vez no vuelva a mirarlos

En el paso del coyote
vaya muy bien preparado
si usted no quiere pelear
lo arrastrare en mi caballo
de las ramas de aquel cedro
lo voy a dejar colgado

La muerte andaba a caballo
los hechos los presencio
en el paso del coyote
este caso sucedio
ahi Jesús Maldonado
a un juez de letras colgó

The Gallows Tree

The wind was swinging it
what a dark memory
it was my father's body
who had a rope around his neck
they had hanged him on Sunday
from the branches of that cedar

I was barely 10 years old
I cried like a child
the dog had been shot
I knew from his howls
but he was dragging a spur
that belonged to the murderers

Sir, does it belong to you
or perhaps you forgot
I am Jesús Maldonado
son of the one who was hanged
you can imagine the reasons
why I am looking for him

After all, the laws
won't be able to save him
his children are not guilty
but that's beside the point
if you don't arrive by twelve
you may not see them again

In the coyote's pass
be very well prepared
if you don't want to fight
I'll drag you on my horse
from the branches of that cedar
I will leave you hanging

Death rode on horseback
he witnessed the events
in the coyote's pass
this case happened
there Jesús Maldonado
hanged a judge of letters
