And I was feeling just a bit beat down and so I started on the sidewalks of this lonely town
And I wonder if it's just me or if the city's getting colder and the street light's getting bolder and
I'm cuttin corners even (know months straight) and I was so close behind you but I guess you couldn't wait
And I wondered why the hell I didn't see you coming sooner so I could pick it or lose it

And I was feeling like a million bucks and so I started for the pennies just to test my luck and I wonder why I bother these problems when I know I won't solve them and
I was thinkin in case the times get mean that I should keep my bags packed and keep my records clean.
But i wonder how the hell I'm gonna keep on going (anew) when there's (light and it's done)

Et je me sentais un peu à plat, alors j'ai commencé sur les trottoirs de cette ville solitaire
Et je me demande si c'est juste moi ou si la ville devient plus froide et que les lampadaires sont plus audacieux et
Je prends des raccourcis même (sachant des mois d'affilée) et j'étais si près de toi mais je suppose que tu ne pouvais pas attendre
Et je me suis demandé pourquoi diable je ne t'ai pas vu arriver plus tôt pour que je puisse le prendre ou le perdre

Je pensais qu'au cas où les temps deviendraient durs, je devrais garder mes bagages prêts et garder mes disques propres.
Mais je me demande comment diable je vais continuer (à nouveau) quand il y a (de la lumière et que c'est fini)
