Johnny Cartucho

Viva cartucho cowboy florido

Johnny Cartucho

Johnny Cartucho was famous in Oklahoma,
'Cause no one could entertain like he could.
With his guitar and his velvet voice,
And his look like a cowboy from the Wild West.

When he sang so well, he did it,
That even the cows followed him around (repeat).

One time in the Arizona desert,
The Native Americans managed to catch him.
They prepped him with lettuce and radishes,
And served him as cold cuts for dinner.

When the story was almost over,
With his instrument, he managed to escape (repeat).

The diners and the waitstaff at the table,
When they heard him, they lost their minds.
Even the old ladies, out of excitement… fainted,
And even the chief, with great composure, said:

Long live Cartucho, the flashy cowboy,
Who has won back his freedom (repeat).

Everyone was mesmerized,
Except for one guy who was left furious.
He was the official serenade singer,
Whose success of Cartucho really pissed him off.

And in the thick of it, in overalls,
With a shotgun, he went to wait (repeat).

On his bottle-green mare,
Johnny Cartucho whistles and rides carefree.
When suddenly his nag with its tail,
Signaled to him that there was trouble brewing.

A brawl like no other,
Suddenly broke out there (repeat).

The Native American with a blast from his shotgun,
Wanted to leave Johnny like a sieve.
But he, swinging his guitar,
Deflected the bullets from the troubadour.
And in the ricochet of the gunfire,
With a strum of his guitar, he put him to sleep (repeat).
