Haipucú

Raices de América

Haipucú

Haipucú sozinho pensando na vida
Juntando bacába com mel tataira

Junta fruta macho folhas de figueira
Plantas da roseira tucum e chiririca

Homens de frutas nasceram
Na terra do milho
Povos antigos de gesto frutal
Povos amigos

Em nove luares nasceram tapuios
Mistura de frutas com polém de mato

Nascerão seus filhos na beira do rio
A mulher papaia e o homem genipapo

Haipucú
Pensando na vida.

Haipucú

Haipucú alone, thinking about life
Gathering wild fruit with honey and spice

Collecting ripe figs and leafy greens
Plants from the rosebush, palm, and wild beans

Men of the fruit were born
In the land of corn
Ancient peoples with fruitful ways
Friendly folks from the dawn of days

In nine moonlit nights, tapuios were born
A mix of fruits with wild thorns

Their children will rise by the riverside
The woman’s a papaya, the man’s a genipap

Haipucú
Thinking about life.
