Mataron Al Palomo
They Killed the Dove
Folks, I'm gonna sing you the ballad of the Dove
Another one with light hooves, and a solid back
At the San Marcos fair, he finally beat the kid
It was Palm Sunday, around three in the afternoon
when a gunshot was heard breaking the air
Dove fell behind, his rival took the lead
With great distrust, he always ran on the outside
There he signed his sentence, by taking the lead
He reached the finish line first, won his last race
They took him to the stable, and the blond, owner of the kid
He was a cowardly villain, seeing him all alone
He shot him in the forehead, and that's how the Dove died
He looked up at the sky, as if accusing the coward
At that moment his owner arrived, but couldn't save him
And with tears in his eyes he said, 'I swear, I'll avenge you.'
Pedro traveled from fair to fair, with only one thought
He carries a wound in his soul, that time couldn't heal
He asks the sky for life, to fulfill his oath.
