In This Neighborhood

Raúl Lavié

En Este Barrio

Hablaban siempre de dinero
y planeaban asaltar un banco
y al llegar otro febrero
sonaban con fugarse en un barco
y ano tras ano se iban yendo asi
creyendo que la vida era un velero
sueno tras sueno quedaban alli

Dicen que quieren rock and roll

In This Neighborhood

They always talked about money
and planned to rob a bank
and when another February came
they dreamed of escaping on a boat
year after year they kept leaving like that
t hinking life was a sailboat
dream after dream they stayed there
crucified in a sewer

one became a f****t
another became a merchant marine
that one believes in revolution
while his brother is a drug dealer
day by day the boys go
looking for girls for the taking
Monday after Monday it repeats the same
no one can stand this life anymore

They say they want rock and roll
and some even smoke a joint
there are those who dream of Washington
and there are those who walk around with a stupid face
in this neighborhood there is also the one
who s**ts on everything and even on New York
he doesn't worship the dollar and clearly sees
that the north is not the solution

They always talked about money
and planned to rob a bank
and when another February came
they dreamed of escaping on a boat

those who stayed criticize those who left
and everyone knows what's going on
I don't know if I'll stay or if I'll leave
I'm tired of my neighborhood and my house
