To raise up this ladder of mercy for me

As Jacob was traveling was weary one day
At night on a stone for a pillow did lay
A vision of fear for a ladder so high
It stood on the ground but the top reached the sky.

This ladder was tall but yet so well made
Stood thousands of years and never decayed
It went from the heavens it reeled and it rocked
But the angels they guard it from the bottom to top.

Para levantar esta escalera de misericordia para mí
Avanza, sube, la cima está a la vista
Hay una corona de gloria justa esperándote.
Mientras Jacob viajaba cansado un día
Por la noche en una piedra como almohada se recostó
Una visión de miedo de una escalera tan alta
Estaba en el suelo pero la cima alcanzaba el cielo.

Esta escalera era alta pero tan bien hecha
Permaneció miles de años y nunca se deterioró
Iba desde los cielos, se balanceaba y se mecía
Pero los ángeles la guardaban desde abajo hasta arriba.
