Star Cow, Corn Bull

Rolando Boldrin

Vaca Estrela Boi Fubá

Seu doutor, me dê licença
Pra minha história contar
Hoje eu tô na terra estranha
É bem triste o meu penar

Eu já fui muito feliz
Vivendo no meu lugar
Eu tinha cavalo bom
E gostava de campear

Todo dia eu aboiava
Na porteira do curral
Eia, ê vaca estrela, ooh boi fubá

Eu sou filho do nordeste
Não nego meu naturá
Mas uma seca medonha
Me tangeu de lá pra cá

Lá eu tinha o meu gadinho, não é bom nem imaginar
Minha linda vaca estrela
E o meu belo boi fubá

Aquela seca medonha
Fez tudo se atrapalhar
Eia, ê vaca estrela, ooh boi fubá

Não nasceu capim no campo para o gado sustentar
O sertão se estorricou
Fez o açude secar

Morreu minha vaca estrela
Se acabou meu boi fubá
Perdi tudo quanto eu tinha, nunca mais pude aboiar

Eia, ê vaca estrela, ooh boi fubá

Star Cow, Corn Bull

Doctor, can I have a moment
To tell my story?
Today I’m in a strange land
It’s really sad, my suffering

I used to be so happy
Living in my hometown
I had a good horse
And loved to roam around

Every day I’d call the cattle
By the gate of the corral
Hey there, star cow, oh corn bull

I’m a child of the northeast
I don’t deny my roots
But a terrible drought
Has driven me here and there

Back home I had my little herd, it’s hard to even think
Of my beautiful star cow
And my handsome corn bull

That awful drought
Made everything go wrong
Hey there, star cow, oh corn bull

There’s no grass in the field to feed the cattle
The backcountry dried up
Made the pond run dry

My star cow has died
My corn bull is gone
I lost everything I had, I can’t call the cattle anymore

Hey there, star cow, oh corn bull
