Barrio Pobre (Tango)
¡Barrio, barrio pobre, estoy contigo!
¡Vuelvo a cantarte, viejo amigo!
Poor Neighborhood (Tango)
In this neighborhood that is a relic of the past
On this humble street, I had yesterday
Behind that little window that they have closed
The fragrant carnation of a love
Those parties that were celebrated in your courtyards
Some fortunate event of the place
With my guitar in the circle they told me
And in tender verses, I sang my song
Neighborhood of my most ardent dreams
Poor like the clothes of your people
You kept all the richness for me
And sadness drizzled
When I said my last goodbye
Neighborhood, poor neighborhood, I am with you!
I come back to sing to you, old friend!
Forgive the disappointments of my song
Because since then, I cried so much
That my voice has already broken
On this street, I walked in pale dawns
With a firm step to the day of work
Cordial and simple was the round of my hours
Mother's love, girlfriend's love, always love!
On this street on a lonely and cold night
I left the good and pure world of yesterday
I turned the corner without thinking about what I was losing
I left without direction, to never return
