The Cart Driver

Savia Andina

The Cart Driver

Goes without rest
A cart driver with his load to the city
And in his singing he proclaims joy
Of the countryside in the vastness

Between shadow and light
With the jijusa he marches to the town
While the back and forth
Longs sweetly, for his chaco's moraijú

His rhythmic sound
Seasons the sweetness
Of the tender fruit
That he takes to sell

And his slow pace inspires the cart
The sweet song
That moans as the axle rattles

To his desire, back already
Where his beloved awaits him with a rich somó
His heart, content
And on his guitar, singing, he thanks God

His rhythmic sound
Seasons the sweetness
Of the tender fruit
That he takes to sell

And his slow pace inspires the cart
The sweet song
That moans as the axle rattles

To his desire, back already
Where his beloved awaits him with a rich somó
His heart, content
And on his guitar, singing, he thanks God
