Denominado inicialmente de Nuestra Señora de la Paz
Fue fundado en 1548 en el sitio del poblado de
Laja para luego mudarse al Valle de Chuquiago
Esta zona estaba poblada por un colectivo de
Apenas 500 indios y el Indio de la Paz (a pesar de
Que todos los indígenas de la zona adquirieron ese
Nombre) era uno de los dirigentes de la tribu habitante
Del sector donde se formó este corregimiento
Es el 12 de marzo de 1780 cuando este grupo de indios
Los Indios de la Paz, se alzan al grito muera el rey de España
4 meses después estalla la gran revolución India encabezada
