Bitterness in the blood

Sergio Vega

Camino cuantro noches y dias

Bitterness in the blood

They watched him come down from the mountains
When the sun was barely rising
Asking for a commander
Who violated his wife and sister
And also destroyed some little plants
That I bought for him every year

He traded his horse for a gun
And a bag full of bullets
Saddled the white-legged horse
He mounted and took his path
He walked four nights and days
Without sleeping, without eating, my friend

El Parrita saw him this morning
And came running to warn me
There goes Valdemar from the plains
Looking for a damn commander
He looks unfriendly
Says he's going to teach him a lesson

I searched for him almost all over the state
Someone said they saw him in Huatabampo
Since the horse couldn't go on
A buddy lent him his car
He took him out of his house that day
To check the crops

He ended the man's story
The cruel one who violated his family
They found him in some wheat fields
With his face looking up
More than thirty bullets from a Super
With what feat they took his life

They've seen him gazing at his ranch
Leaning on a wire fence
And even though he avenged the infamy
Those things are not easily forgotten
And if they've seen the friend smiling
The bitterness is in his blood
