The Martyr

Shirley Carvalhaes

The Martyr

Christ, being God, became like me
Came down from heaven to bring forgiveness to the world
He was born, grew up, and died
Fulfilling His mission
Being our Savior

Oh, my Jesus, why did you suffer like this?
Your blood poured out, not even a scream escaped
It was there on the cross that the world witnessed
The sacrificed martyr completed everything

After 40 days, He ascended
To the light of heaven, to reign there forever
In His glorious splendor, one day we shall be
Reigning with Him there

Oh, my Jesus, why did you suffer like this?
Your blood poured out, not even a scream escaped
It was there on the cross that the world witnessed
The sacrificed martyr completed everything
