Black Tordilho

Tordilho Negro

Correu notícia que um gaúcho
Lá da estância do paredão
Tinha um cavalo tordilho negro
Foi mal domado ficou redomão

E este gaúcho dono do pingo
Desafiava qualquer peão
Dava o tordilho negro de presente
Pra quem montasse sem cair no chão

Eu fui criado na lida de campo
Não acredito em assombração
Fui na estância topar o desafio
Correu boato na população

Foi num domingo, clareava o dia
Puxei o pingo e o povo reuniu
Joguei os trastes no lombo do taura
Murchou a orelha, teve um arrepio

Botei a ponta da bota no estribo
Alguns gaiato por perto sorriu
Ainda disseram comigo, eram oito
Que boleou a perna, montou e caiu

Saltei no lombo e gritei pro povo
Este será o último desafio
Tordilho negro berrava na espora
Por vinte horas ninguém mais nos viu

Mais de uma légua o pingo corcoviou
Manchou de sangue a espora prateada
Anoiteceu o povo pelo campo
Procurava o morto pela invernada

Compraram vela, fizeram um caixão
A minha alma estava encomendada
À meia-noite, mais de mil pessoas
Desistiu da busca, desacorçoadas

Daqui um pouco, ouviram o tropel
Olharam o campo noite enluarada
Eu vinha vindo no tordilho negro
Feliz saboreando a marcha troteada

Boleei a perna na frente do povo
Deixei as rédea arrastar no capim
Lavado em suor o tordilho negro
Ficou pastando em roda de mim

Tinha uma prenda no meio do povo
Muito gaúcha e eu falei assim
Venha provar a marcha do tordilho
Faça o favor e monte de selim

Andou no pingo mais de meia hora
Deu-me uma rosa lá do seu jardim
Levei pra casa o meu tordilho negro
É mais uma história que chega no fim

Black Tordilho

There was news that a gaucho
There from the seawall resort
There was a black grey horse
It was badly tamed but became rebellious

And this gaucho owner of the pingo
Challenged any pawn
I gave the black dapple as a gift
For those who could ride without falling to the ground

I was raised in the fields
I don't believe in ghosts
I went to the resort to take on the challenge
There was a rumor among the population

It was a Sunday, the day was dawning
I pulled the pingo and the people gathered
I threw the junk on the bull's back
The ear wilted, he had a shiver

I put the tip of my boot in the stirrup
Some kid nearby smiled
They even told me, there were eight
Who kicked his leg, mounted it and fell

I jumped on the back and shouted to the people
This will be the last challenge
Black dapple bellowed on the spur
For twenty hours no one saw us again

The droplet bounced more than a league
He stained the silver spur with blood
The people in the countryside got dark
I was looking for the dead man in the winter

They bought candles, made a coffin
My soul was ordered
At midnight, more than a thousand people
Gave up the search, discouraged

A little later, they heard the trampling
They looked at the field on a moonlit night
I was coming in the black gray
Happy savoring the trotting gait

I kicked my leg in front of the people
I let the reins drag in the grass
Washed in sweat the black dapple
He was grazing around me

There was a gift among the people
Very gaucho and I said it like this
Come and try the gray march
Please do me a favor and mount the saddle

He walked on the drop for more than half an hour
He gave me a rose from his garden
I took my black grey home
It's another story that comes to an end
