Last Rodeo

Teixeirinha

Última Gineteada

Eu encilhei o meu cavalo e levei outro
Fui convidado pra uma linda gineteada
Sai do rancho virava de meia noite
A estrela d'alva repontava a madrugada

Soltaram o potro, meu laço estava armado

No entrevero vi tanta prenda bonita
No meio delas minha antiga namorada

A minha antiga namorada estava bela

Me despedi da gauchada e retornei
Eu vim no zaino e ela veio no tordilho

Last Rodeo

I saddled my horse and took another
I was invited to a beautiful rodeo
I left the ranch turning around midnight
The morning star was rising at dawn

I arrived at the party as the day was breaking
People were arriving by cart and horse
At eight o'clock there was a reins contest
At ten-thirty another pealo contest

I took a sorrel and a good reins dapple gray
With two horses and plenty of resources
I switched the saddle from the sorrel to the dapple gray
I was ready for the first contest

At ten-thirty another pealo contest
I switched the saddle back to the sorrel
They released the colt, my lasso was ready
I caught it right on its two front legs

At noon, the barbecue was a success
I sang a xote to greet the cowboys
In the midst of it, I saw so many beautiful women
Among them, my former girlfriend

And in the afternoon, a single accordion wept
There was a fandango and I joined in
The accordionist was Adelar Bertussi
Being one of the best, I asked the lady to dance

Night fell, the fandango livened up
What a beautiful entertainment it was
My former girlfriend looked stunning
She called her father and I arranged the marriage

I stayed there for a week and got married
I became the son-in-law of Mr. Antônio Maximino
I said goodbye to the cowboys and returned
I came on the sorrel and she came on the dapple gray
