Chicken Or Egg?
We've got hearts that we want broken cause
we learned it on tv tv learned it from the stage
the stage learned it from the stories that we've told
around the fires in the dark and lonely nights
by the wild old men and women with fire in their eyes and
the singers wish doom for everybody when they
pen those catchy melodies why else would they sell such
sadness and sorrow whey would they make it sound
so catchy so romantic so tragic so sad so irresistible
do we copy art or is the art just us why do we
break our hearts if it cliche or is it love do we want
to be sad and cause we saw it on tv or is this
world to fucked for anyone to be happy do the
singers wish doom for everybody or do they really mean
the things they sing did they make the world sad or did
the world do it to them does anyone feel anythings?

Tenemos corazones que queremos quebrados porque
aprendimos en la televisión, la televisión lo aprendió del escenario
el escenario lo aprendió de las historias que contamos
alrededor de las fogatas en las noches oscuras y solitarias
por los viejos hombres y mujeres salvajes con fuego en sus ojos y
los cantantes desean la perdición para todos cuando
escriben esas pegajosas melodías, ¿por qué más venderían tanta
tristeza y dolor, por qué lo harían sonar
tan pegajoso, tan romántico, tan trágico, tan triste, tan irresistible?
¿copiamos el arte o es el arte simplemente nosotros, por qué
rompemos nuestros corazones, ¿es un cliché o es amor, queremos
estar tristes porque lo vimos en la televisión o es este
mundo demasiado jodido para que alguien sea feliz, ¿los
cantantes desean la perdición para todos o realmente quieren
decir lo que cantan, ¿hicieron el mundo triste o fue
el mundo quien los hizo así, ¿alguien siente algo?
