Animals And The Weather
It seems hotter here today,
so much hotter than yesterday.
I think it's hotter than the day before.
So much hotter than tomorrow.
I'll just fill up space
making obvious statements on the weather.
I'm hotter than a turkey in the oven,
hotter than a bat being boiled by a coven,
hotter than a fish in the summer sand,
hotter than a cat on fire.
I'll just fill up space
by comparing animals and the weather.
And then I'll kill some time
drinking Mexican beer from Texas.
Everything feels fine.
I remember getting caught in the train.
I remember smoking cigarettes.
I don't remember getting drunk in Kentucky.
I remember winning money on a horse.
I was lucky.
So I'll fill up space
with stories from the past.
And then I'll kill some time
singing songs.
I wish that this summer would last.
Animales y el Clima
Hoy parece más caliente aquí,
tan caliente que ayer.
Creo que es más caliente que el día anterior.
Mucho más caliente que mañana.
Solo llenaré espacio
haciendo afirmaciones obvias sobre el clima.
Estoy más caliente que un pavo en el horno,
más caliente que un murciélago hirviendo en un aquelarre,
más caliente que un pez en la arena del verano,
más caliente que un gato en llamas.

Y luego mataré el tiempo
tomando cerveza mexicana de Texas.
Todo se siente bien.
Recuerdo haberme quedado atrapado en el tren.
Recuerdo fumar cigarrillos.
No recuerdo emborracharme en Kentucky.
Recuerdo haber ganado dinero en una carrera de caballos.
Tuve suerte.
Así que llenaré espacio
con historias del pasado.
Y luego mataré el tiempo
cantando canciones.
Ojalá que este verano durara.
