ah, quando o alívio chega
pode esperar
madrugada está por vir
creio poder ser sincera
não há remédio
não se pode mentir
essa poesia veio mesmo a calhar
nessa madrugada fria
nessa noite sem luar
não há como ver estrelas
e nem como acreditar
mas existe o céu azul
existe o amor, o samba e o mar
madrugada já rompeu
você vai me abandonar

there's no way to see the stars
and no way to believe
but there's a blue sky
there's love, samba, and the sea
dawn has already broken
you're gonna leave me
I feel that forgiveness
is something you don't deserve
