New Terrain

Von Hertzen Brothers

My boots have worn out and my feet
Got so tired of the streets
Underneath their soles
The new terrain feels like a dream
After complicated life
I lived before
Forwards, upwards from the heat
I'm getting out of the polluted air
Of so-called love
I'm keen to see what's next
When I come out on the other side
Climb out from the hole
Right at your feet

In you, I have an umbrella
To keep away the rain
In you, I have a guide to take me to new
Terrain

I'm making sure I stay ahead
And put distance to the things
I abhor
The eagles flying overhead
Make me feel I'm growing wings
To soar
And I won't rest until I reach the peak
And a level of complete
Communion
Darkness seems to be
Something I felt on the other side
The vultures of my soul
Have left me be, yeah

In you, I have an umbrella
To keep away the rain
And in you, I have the light I need
To break free from my pain
In you, I have an umbrella
To keep away the rain
And in you, I have a friend who knows
It's a new, it's a new
Terrain

I made it out for the trip
And left without feeling the rain
I roamed about, feeling the breath
And settled into a new name
I left without seeing an end
And closed my mind
To listen instead
The voice was clear
Muting the pain
There's nothing to fear
In the new terrain
