In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time,
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.
When thy woes of life o'er-take me,
Hopes deceive and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me;
Lo! it glows with peace and joy.
When the sun of bliss is beaming
Light and love upon my way,
From the cross the radiance streaming
Adds new luster to the day.
Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
Peace is there that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide.

En la cruz de Cristo me glorío,
Elevándose sobre los restos del tiempo,
Toda la luz de la historia sagrada
Se reúne alrededor de su cabeza sublime.
Cuando tus penas de la vida me alcanzan,
Las esperanzas engañan y los miedos molestan,
Nunca me abandonará la cruz;
¡Mira! brilla con paz y alegría.
Cuando el sol de la dicha brilla
Luz y amor en mi camino,
Desde la cruz el resplandor que irradia
Añade nuevo brillo al día.
Perdición y bendición, dolor y placer,
Por la cruz son santificados;
Hay paz allí que no conoce medida,
Alegrías que perduran a través del tiempo.
