The Snake
On her way to work one morning
Down the path along side the lake
A tender hearted woman saw a poor half frozen snake
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew
"Poor thing", she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you"
"Take me in oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman", sighed the snake
She wrapped him all cozy in a comforter of silk
And laid him by her fireside with some honey and some milk
She hurried home from work that night and soon as she arrived
She found that pretty snake she'd taken to had bee revived
"Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman", sighed the snake
She clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful", she cried
"But if I hadn't brought you in by now you might have died"
She stroked his pretty skin again and kissed and held him tight
Instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite
"Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman", sighed the snake
"I saved you", cried the woman
"And you've bitten me, but why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die"
"Oh, shut up, silly woman", said the reptile with a grin
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in
"Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
La Serpiente
Una mañana de camino al trabajo
Por el camino a lo largo del lado del lago
Una mujer de corazón tierno vio a una pobre serpiente medio congelada
Su bonita piel coloreada había sido toda esmerilada con el rocío
Pobrecita», gritó, «Te llevaré y cuidaré de ti
Llévame en oh tierna mujer
Llévame adentro, por el amor de Dios
Llévame, tierno mujer», suspiró la serpiente
Ella lo envolvió todo acogedor en un edredón de seda
Y lo puso junto a su chimenea con un poco de miel y leche
Ella se apresuró a casa del trabajo esa noche y tan pronto como llegó
Encontró a esa linda serpiente a la que se había llevado para revivir a la abeja
Llévame adentro, oh tierno mujer
Llévame adentro, por el amor de Dios
Llévame, tierno mujer», suspiró la serpiente
Ella lo agarró a su pecho, «Eres tan hermosa», gritó
Pero si no te hubiera traído a estas alturas podrías haber muerto
Ella acarició su bonita piel otra vez y se besó y lo mantuvo apretado
En vez de darle las gracias, la serpiente le dio un mordisco vicioso
Llévame adentro, oh tierno mujer

Llévame, tierno mujer», suspiró la serpiente
Te salvé», gritó la mujer
Y me has mordido, pero ¿por qué?
Sabes que tu mordida es venenosa y ahora voy a morir
Oh, cállate, mujer tonta», dijo el reptil con una sonrisa
Sabías muy bien que era una serpiente antes de que me llevaras
Llévame adentro, oh tierno mujer
