Brotherly Love
Jesus, beloved Shepherd,
Contemplate us here;
Grant that we may be
One body in you.
Strife and malice
Be far from us!
May no sorrow hinder
Our communion.
For being redeemed
By one Savior,
We should be united
By a stronger love;
Look with sympathy
Upon a brother's mistakes,
And all help him
With gentle compassion.
Jesus, gentle and meek,
Teach us to love,
And may we also be
Forgiving like you!
Oh, how much we need
Help from the Lord!
United, let us pray
To God for this love!
If your whole church
Walks in holy unity,
Then the name of Christian
Will be blessed;
Thus what you asked for
Will be fulfilled in us,
And the whole world
Will know you.
