Alegre Verdade! Quão bom é ouvir
Que ao Deus de bondade aprouve em abrir
À glória o caminho ao vil pecador.
Vitória da graça! Vitória do amor!
Foi ato espontâneo da parte de Deus
Seu Filho enviar-nos da glória dos céus
E, por Sua morte, o campo aplanar
A fim de tal graça poder operar!
Lá estava o pecado, tão ameaçador,
A todos vendando as bençãos do amor,
Clamando à justiça que, sem perdoar,
A culpa devia nos réus castigar.
Mas Deus a Seu Filho ao mundo enviou
E o fim desejado por Ele alcançõu,
Pois Cristo a Si mesmo à morte Se deu
E o grande empecilho assim removeu.
Se cremos em Cristo, Deus pode ficar
Justo, inda no ato de justificar,
Pois fica a justiça agora a facor
Daquele que é crente em Cristo, o Senhor.
Aos homens Deus chama, pedindo atenção
À voz que proclama o pleno perdão,
E o dá mesmo àquele que mais culpas tem
Quando, arrependido, ao salvador vem.
Joyful Truth
Joyful Truth! How good it is to hear
That to the God of kindness it pleased to clear
The path to glory for the wretched sinner.
Victory of grace! Victory of love!
It was a spontaneous act from God’s side
To send us His Son from heaven’s bright tide
And, through His death, to level the ground
So that such grace could truly abound!
There sin stood, so threatening and bold,
Blinding everyone from love’s blessings untold,
Crying out for justice that, without a doubt,
Had to punish the guilty, no way out.
But God sent His Son into the world,
And the desired end by Him was unfurled,
For Christ gave Himself up to die,
And thus removed the great obstacle high.
If we believe in Christ, God can remain
Just, even while justifying the slain,
For justice now stands in favor, you see,
Of those who believe in Christ, the Lord, you and me.
To mankind, God calls, asking for attention
To the voice proclaiming full forgiveness, no tension,
And He gives it even to those with the most blame
When, repentant, they come to the Savior’s name.
