First Time
My story goes way back to the 60s
When I first went across the Irish Sea
I was on a summer break with my family
It was all so very new and strange to me.
As we settled in our digs way down in Dublin
Taking in the streets and the cobble stones
Thinking about the songs that the Irish people sing
Like Molly Malone, Sean Sabhat from Garryowen.
I remember a man and my dad talking
He was asking him were his accent was from
Then I heard him say something that I would hear again
And now I've heard it said so many times you know.

Well it took me a few years to go back there
Now I think I've been a hundred time or more
From Galway to Kilkenny and all around the coast
