Purple mountains, fruited plains
we all see what we want to see
all I see is gray after election day
'cause nothing really appeals to me
Is silence just convenient or just the lack of nerve?
Then politics is used against those it's supposed to serve
what use is education if you don't get the point
Intolerance preserves integrity
but where to stop drawing the line?
the banner of hate against the treason you see

Armed with the bible blinded by the right takes on attack
rhetoric for the middle class "let's get the country back!"
Back from what from where? Every four years the same old crap
Why should I pledge allegiance to the flag?
The horsemen of the moral apocalypse
whose armor's too thick for them to see
cripple us all when religion becomes
the backbone of democracy
Don't think common sense will go away without a fight
your religious values never held up well in light
hypocrisy thickens the farther you go right
Why should I trust one nation under god?
Hands are tied while corporations thrive
there's something shadowing the state
can't you realize where the real threat lies
when the interests, not ideals are at stake
The unthinkable scenario can be bred out of fear
the military warns the president not to interfere
your last mistake would be to think it can not happen here

Montañas moradas, llanuras fructíferas
todos vemos lo que queremos ver
todo lo que veo es gris después del día de elecciones
porque nada realmente me atrae
¿Es el silencio conveniente o simplemente falta de valor?
Luego la política se usa en contra de aquellos a quienes se supone servir
¿De qué sirve la educación si no captas el punto?
La intolerancia preserva la integridad

el estandarte del odio contra la traición que ves
definitivamente no es mío
Armados con la biblia cegados por la derecha toman el ataque
retórica para la clase media '¡recuperemos el país!'
¿Recuperar de qué, de dónde? Cada cuatro años la misma basura
¿Por qué debería jurar lealtad a la bandera?
Los jinetes del apocalipsis moral
cuya armadura es demasiado gruesa para ver
nos paralizan a todos cuando la religión se convierte
en la columna vertebral de la democracia
No creas que el sentido común desaparecerá sin luchar
tus valores religiosos nunca resistieron bien a la luz
la hipocresía se espesa cuanto más te inclinas a la derecha
¿Por qué debería confiar en una nación bajo dios?
Las manos están atadas mientras las corporaciones prosperan
hay algo oscureciendo al estado
¿no puedes darte cuenta dónde yace la verdadera amenaza
cuando los intereses, no los ideales están en juego?
El escenario impensable puede ser engendrado por el miedo
el ejército advierte al presidente que no interfiera
tu último error sería pensar que no puede suceder aquí
