We were trapped between the desert and the raging deep
With Pharaoh's chariots closing in, no time to weep
The dust was rising and the people cried in fear
But the prophet stood and said: The Lord is here
The staff he raised, the skies turned dark and cold
The Sun hid its face, the wind started to roll
The waters split, the walls began to rise
And the Israelites walked on the path that lies
And the sea divided, the waters split wide
A wall on the left and a wall on the right side
We walked right through on the dry, solid ground
Where the deep stood still and the fear was drowned
Oh, the God of the heavens has opened the grave
And made a road through the heart of the wave
The winds howled strong, the waves retreated fast
The parted sea showed us a way to last
With every step, the faith grew bold and true
For the Lord had promised, and He never shone through
Through the parted waters, the Israelites walked
Their hearts filled with hope, their spirits uplifted
No longer afraid, they sang with joy and might
For the Lord had shown them, the power of His light
The chariots sank, the waters rushed back in
But the Israelites walked, their path was defined
By the hand of God, their journey was clear
From the depths of despair, into a brand new year
Then came the wind, a fierce and holy blast
Driving the waves until the seabed passed
All through the night, the strong east wind blew
Carving a highway where no path was knew
And the sea divided, the waters split wide
