Einst stieg Moses auf den Berg Sinai
Er vernahm die Stimme des Herrn
und sie sagte zu ihm:
Ich bin der Herr, Dein Gott
Du sollst nicht andere Götter haben neben mir
Als Moses wieder vom Berg Sinai herabkam
Sah er das Volk, wie es um die goldenes Kalb tanzte
Er erzürnte. Vor Wut zerschlug er die Tafeln Gottes

Das erste Gebot:
Ich bin der Herr, Dein Gott
Du sollst nicht andere Götter haben neben mir
Das zweite Gebot:
Du solst den Namen des Herrn, Deines Gottes,
Nicht unnützlich führen
Denn der Herr wird den nicht ungestraft lassen,
Der seinen Namen missbraucht
Das dritte Gebot:
Du sollst den Feiertag heiligen
Das vierte Gebot:
Du sollst Deinen Vater und Deine Mutter ehren
Auf das Dir es wohl gehe
Und Du lange lebest auf Erden
Das fünfte Gebot:
Du sollst nicht töten
Das sechste Gebot:
Du sollst nicht ehebrechen
Das siebente Gebot:
Du sollst nicht stehlen
Das achte Gebot:
Du sollst nicht falsch Zeugnis reden wider
Deinen Nächsten
Das neunte Gebot:
Du sollst nicht begehren Deines nächsten Haus
Vieh oder Alles was sein ist

Knecht, Magd, Vieh oder
Alles was sein ist
Ich, der Herr, Dein Gott, bin ein eifriger Gott, der

Die Sünde der Vater heimsucht an den Kindern
bis ins dritte oder vierte Glied
Aber denen, so mich lieben und meine Gebote
halten, tue ich wohl in tausend Glied

Once Moses climbed Mount Sinai
He heard the voice of the Lord
And it said to him:
I am the Lord, your God
You shall have no other gods before me
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai
He saw the people dancing around the golden calf
He was furious. In his rage, he smashed the tablets of God
I am your God, you beloved people, love me

I am the Lord, your God
You shall have no other gods before me
The second commandment:
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord, your God,
For the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless
Who misuses His name
The third commandment:
You shall keep the Sabbath holy
The fourth commandment:
Honor your father and your mother
So that it may go well with you
And you may live long in the land
The fifth commandment:
You shall not kill
The sixth commandment:
You shall not commit adultery
The seventh commandment:
You shall not steal
The eighth commandment:
You shall not bear false witness against
Your neighbor
The ninth commandment:
You shall not covet your neighbor's house
Or anything that belongs to him
The tenth commandment:
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife
Servant, maid, cattle, or
Anything that belongs to him
I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God,
Punishing the children for the sin of the parents
To the third and fourth generation
Of those who hate me
But showing love to a thousand generations
Of those who love me and keep my commandments
