De hoaven van Delfziel
De Noordzee lag te slapen
Wie kwamen terug oet Kiel
En in de verte zag ik
De kroanen van Delfziel
De zun glee langzoam onder
Alsof e in 't wotter viel
En alle meeuwen zongen
Wie goanen weer noar Delfziel
'k Heb overaal al zwurven
En voak zo'n zet van hoes
Ik ken de krougen oet mien kop
Mor naargens vuil 'k mie thoes
Al snaren ze over Hamburg
Hou goud dat 't doar beviel
Ik wil 't laifst veur anker
In d'Hoaven van Delfziel
De loods dij bleef mor proaten '
t Viel hom hail nait op
Ik docht nait meer aan boakens
'k Haar aans wat aan de kop
De TM 47 Was ook op weg noar hoes
En schipper stak zien haand op
Vanoavend bivve thoes
'k Heb overaal al zwurven
En voak zo'n zet van hoes
Ik ken de krougen oet mien kop
Mor naargens vuil 'k mie thoes
Al het mien boot gain stuurhut
Gain mast en ook gain kiel
Ik wil mit die veur d'anker
In d'Hoaven van Delfziel
The harbors of Delfzijl
The North Sea was sleeping
Who came back from Kiel
And in the distance I saw
The towers of Delfzijl
The sun slowly went down
As if it fell into the water
And all the seagulls sang
We're going back to Delfzijl
I've wandered everywhere
And often far from home
I know the pubs by heart
But nowhere do I feel at home
Even if they talk about Hamburg
How good it was there
I prefer to drop anchor
In the harbor of Delfzijl
The pilot kept talking
He didn't notice
I didn't think about books anymore
I had something else on my mind
The TM 47 was also on its way home
And the skipper waved his hand
Tonight we'll stay home
I've wandered everywhere
And often far from home
I know the pubs by heart
But nowhere do I feel at home
Although my boat has no wheelhouse
No mast and no keel
I want to drop anchor with you
In the harbor of Delfzijl
