They Burned Incense Unto Ba'al
Rebuke your mother, rebuke her
For she is not my wife and I'm not her husband
Let her remove the adulterous look from her face
And unfaithfulness from between her breasts
Otherwise I will strip her naked and make her as bare as on the day she was born
I will make her like a desert turn her into a parched land and slay her with thirst
I will not show my love to her children because they are children of adultery
Their mother has been unfaithful and concieved them in disgrace
She says
Ill go back to my lovers
Who give me my food and my water
My wool, my linen, my oil and my drink
Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes
I will wall her in, so she cannot find her way
She will chase after her lovers but not catch them, she will look for them and not find them
She will say ill go back to my husband at first, for I was better off then than I am now
She has not acknowledged I was the one, who gave her the grain
The new wine, the new oil
Who lavished on her with silver and gold
In which they used for ba'al
Therefore ill take away my grain when it ripens
And my new wine when it is ready
I will take back my wool and my linen
That was intended to cover her nakedness
So now I will expose her lewdness
Before the eyes of her lovers
Noone will take her out of my hands
I will stop all her celebrations
Her yearly festivals, her new moons, her sabbath days
All her appointed feasts
I will ruin her vines and her fig trees
In which she said was pay from her lovers
I will make them a thicket and wild animals will devour them
I will punish her for the days
That she burned incense to ba'al
She decked herself with rings and jewelry
And went after her lovers
But me she forgot, declares the lord
Therefore I will now allure her
I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her
And there I will back to her, her vineyards
Make a valley of achor
A door of hope
And then she will respond as in the days of her youth
As in the days she came out of egypt
And on that day declares the lord
You will call me my husband
You will no longer call me, my master
I will remove the names of the baal's from her lips
No longer will their names be invoked
In that day I will make a covenant for them
With the beasts of the field
The birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground
Bow and sword and battle
I will abolish them from the land
So that all may lie down in safety
I'll betroth you to me forever
I'll betroth you in righteousness and justice in love and compassion
I'll betroth you in faithfulness
Le Quemaron Incienso a Ba'al
Reprende a tu madre, repréndela
Porque ella no es mi esposa y yo no soy su esposo
Que quite de su rostro la mirada de adulterio
Y la infidelidad de entre sus pechos
De lo contrario, la dejaré desnuda y la haré tan expuesta como el día en que nació
La convertiré en un desierto, la transformaré en tierra árida y la mataré de sed
No mostraré mi amor a sus hijos porque son hijos de adulterio
Su madre ha sido infiel y los concibió en deshonra
Ella dice
Regresaré a mis amantes
Que me dan mi comida y mi agua
Mi lana, mi lino, mi aceite y mi bebida
Por lo tanto, bloquearé su camino con espinas
La rodearé, para que no pueda encontrar su camino
Ella perseguirá a sus amantes pero no los alcanzará, los buscará y no los encontrará
Dirá que volverá a su esposo al principio, porque estaba mejor entonces que ahora
No ha reconocido que fui yo quien le dio el grano
El vino nuevo, el aceite nuevo
Quien la colmó de plata y oro
Con lo que usaron para Ba'al
Por lo tanto, quitaré mi grano cuando madure
Y mi vino nuevo cuando esté listo
Recuperaré mi lana y mi lino
Que estaban destinados a cubrir su desnudez
Así que ahora expondré su lascivia
Ante los ojos de sus amantes
Nadie la sacará de mis manos
Detendré todas sus celebraciones
Sus festivales anuales, sus lunas nuevas, sus días de sábado
Todas sus fiestas señaladas
Arruinaré sus vides y sus higueras
Con las que decía que le pagaban sus amantes
Las convertiré en un matorral y los animales salvajes las devorarán
La castigaré por los días
Que quemó incienso a Ba'al
Se adornó con anillos y joyas
Y fue tras sus amantes
Pero a mí me olvidó, declara el Señor
Por lo tanto, ahora la atraeré
La llevaré al desierto y le hablaré con ternura
Y allí le devolveré sus viñedos
Haré un valle de Acor
Una puerta de esperanza
Y entonces ella responderá como en los días de su juventud
Como en los días en que salió de Egipto
Y en ese día, declara el Señor
Me llamarás mi esposo
Ya no me llamarás, mi amo
Quitaré los nombres de los Ba'al de sus labios
Ya no se invocarán sus nombres
En ese día haré un pacto por ellos
Con las bestias del campo
Las aves en el cielo y las criaturas que se mueven por la tierra
Arco y espada y batalla
Los aboliré de la tierra
Para que todos puedan acostarse en seguridad
Te desposaré conmigo para siempre
Te desposaré en justicia y rectitud, en amor y compasión
Te desposaré en fidelidad
