Talento, pé descalço, corre mundo

Tem que aplaudir de pé
No meu barraco, luxo é ter educação
Saúde, boa prosa, um prato de feijão
Progresso é feito pelos meus iguais
Você sabe quem é quem quando vem os temporais
Logo eu, de viola em bandoleira
Entre tantas saideiras
Com meu sorriso aberto
Logo eu, filho da simplicidade
Faço da comunidade um paraíso certo
Caneta e papel, um sonho revel
Não ser mais um problema social, meu irmão
Pra ganhar o pão, compus meu destino
Nos versos do reverso mundo cão
Iluminados pela Lua de Ogum
Nós somos muitos, mas não somos qualquer um
No esperançar do menestrel
Vai meu desejo febril
Sou eu mais um Guará desse Brasil
O amor venceu pelos Guarás desse Brasil
Escrevendo à luz de Velas, operário da canção
Construindo a poesia que edifica o coração
É o povo no poder com orgulho de falar

Negro, lazy, vagabond
I am much more than that
I can be whatever I want
Talent, barefoot, travels the world
All those who excommunicated me
Have to applaud standing
In my shack, luxury is to have education
Health, good conversation, a plate of beans
Progress is made by my equals
You know who is who when the storms come
Me, with a guitar on my back
Among so many farewells
With my open smile
Me, son of simplicity
I turn the community into a certain paradise
Pen and paper, a dream revealed
Not being just a social problem, my brother
To earn my bread, I composed my destiny
In the verses of the reverse dog-eat-dog world

I am one more Guará of this Brazil
