A Bela Cidade
Tenho lido da bela cidade
Construída por Cristo Jesus
É murada de jaspe luzente
Toda cheia de glória e de luz
E no meio da praça há um rio
É qual fonte de vida eternal
Mas metade da glória celeste
Jamais se contou ao mortal
Jamais se contou ao mortal
Jamais se contou ao mortal
Metade da glória celeste
Jamais se contou ao mortal
Tenho lido das lindas moradas
Que Jesus foi, no Céu, preparar
Onde os crentes fiéis, para sempre
Mui felizes irão habitar
Nem tristeza, nem dor, nem temores
Entrarão na mansão paternal
Mas metade da glória celeste
Jamais se contou ao mortal
Tenho lido das vestes brilhantes
Das coroas que os santos terão
Quando o Pai os chamar e disser-lhes
Recebei o eternal galardão
Tenho lido que os santos na glória
Pisarão ruas de ouro e cristal
Mas metade da glória celeste
Jamais se contou ao mortal
The Beautiful City
I have read about the beautiful city
Built by Christ Jesus
It is walled with shining jasper
All full of glory and light
And in the middle of the square there is a river
Like a fountain of eternal life
But half of the heavenly glory
Has never been told to mortals
Has never been told to mortals
Has never been told to mortals
Half of the heavenly glory
Has never been told to mortals
I have read about the beautiful mansions
That Jesus went to prepare in Heaven
Where faithful believers, forever
Will dwell very happily
No sadness, no pain, no fears
Will enter the paternal mansion
But half of the heavenly glory
Has never been told to mortals
I have read about the shining garments
Of the crowns that the saints will have
When the Father calls them and says
Receive the eternal reward
I have read that the saints in glory
Will walk on streets of gold and crystal
But half of the heavenly glory
Has never been told to mortals
