A Melhor Dádiva
1. Traziam as ofertas aos pés do Salvador,
E todo o sacrifício mostrava ser de amor.
Nenhuma oferenda tornava sem valor;
A todas aceitava, o meigo Salvador.
CORO: Também, Senhor eu quero
Trazer-te este Dom,
Indigno, mas sincero:
O impuro coração.
2. Ao longe, retraído, está um pecador;
Ao ver os donativos, sua alma sofre em dor.
Não tem nenhuma prenda pra dar ao Salvador!
Com olhos lacrimosos, suplica com fervor:
3. "Ó Mestre", exclama, aflito, "eu sei quão mau eu sou;
Mas toma a pobre oferta: Meu coração Te dou."
Jesus responde, manso: "A dádiva aceitei;
De todas as ofertas, a tua Eu mais amei!"
The Greatest Gift
1. They brought their offerings to the feet of the Savior,
And all the sacrifice showed to be of love.
No offering was made in vain;
All were accepted by the gentle Savior.
CHORUS: Also, Lord, I want
To bring you this Gift,
Unworthy, but sincere:
The impure heart.
2. Far away, withdrawn, is a sinner;
Seeing the donations, his soul suffers in pain.
He has no gift to give to the Savior!
With tearful eyes, he pleads fervently:
3. 'O Master,' he exclaims, distressed, 'I know how bad I am;
But take the poor offering: My heart I give to You.'
Jesus answers, gently: 'I accepted the gift;
Of all the offerings, yours I loved the most!'
