A cordilheira de desfez,
Em mil pedaços a sorrir,
E, na baixada, à luz do sol,
Linda cidade viu surgir.
Como um sorriso de mulher,
Como um anseio de menina,
Surgiu no seio da terra
Esta formosa leopoldina.
Nasceu para vencer
E ser como um padrão.
Por isto, esta cidade
É grande por tradição.
E marcha sem temor,
Buscando dirigir
Seus filhos à luz
Do bem que conduz
A glórias em seu porvir.
Atenas a ensinar
Aos filhos do brasil,
A trilha segura
Do bem e do dever.
