C'est sur cette terre qu'on est malheureux
Avec cette guerre qui fait tant de malheurs
On a de la misère c'est souvent affreux
Mais revoir ma mère nous serions heureux
J'avais sur la terre une bonne maman
Un doux coeur sincère pour ses tendres enfants
Dieu a pris ma mère que j'aimais pourtant
C'est pourquoi je chante ces mots a maman

We have misery, it's often dreadful
But to see my mother again, we would be happy
I had on earth a good mother
A sincere and gentle heart for her tender children
God took my mother whom I loved nonetheless
That's why I sing these words to my mother
