Als Neuke knapp ein Jahr alt war, da konnte sie längst stehen
Sie übte unermüdlich, an der Wand entlang zu gehen
Drei Schritte hat sie leicht geschafft und fast den vierten auch
Doch sie entschied sich lieber für ne Landung auf dem Bauch
Sie sah sich um und hat gelacht
Und hat vielleicht zum ersten Mal gedacht
Ich schaff das schon, ich schaff das schon, ich schaff das ganz alleine
Ich komm bestimmt, ich komm bestimmt auch wieder auf die Beine
Ich brauch dazu, ich brauch dazu vielleicht ne Menge Kraft
Doch ich hab immerhin schon ganz was anderes geschafft
Die Zeit ging schnell vorüber, Michael hat heut selbst ein Kind
Die Wohnung ist nicht groß, in der die zwei zu Hause sind
Und doch hat jeder Winkel hier sein eigenes Gesicht
So kuschelig und friedlich haben's viele Kinder nicht
Und Maike denkt in mancher Nacht
An das, was sie als Kind so oft gedacht

I Can Handle This
When Neuke was just about a year old, she could already stand
She practiced tirelessly, walking along the wall
She managed three steps easily and almost the fourth too
But she chose to land on her belly instead
She looked around and laughed
And maybe for the first time thought
I can handle this, I can handle this, I can do it all on my own
I’ll definitely, I’ll definitely get back on my feet
I might need, I might need a lot of strength for that
But I’ve already accomplished something else, at least
Time flew by quickly, Michael has a kid of his own now
The apartment isn’t big, where the two of them live
Yet every corner here has its own unique vibe
So cozy and peaceful, many kids don’t have it like this
And Maike thinks on some nights
About what she often thought as a child
I can handle this, I can handle this, I can do it all on my own
I’ll definitely, I’ll definitely get back on my feet
I might need, I might need a lot of strength for that
But I’ve already accomplished something else, at least
