De Deus veio a palavra e a Jonas disse assim
Vai a grande cidade que se chama Nínive
Clama, porém, contra ela
Mas ele temendo os valentes
Fugiu de repente em outro navio
Mas um forte vento insistiu
Foi Deus quem do céu assoprou
Ficaram todos apavorados
Quando alguém assustado a ele assim perguntou
Que ocupação é a tua, moço, de onde vens?
Qual é a tua terra, e de que povo és tu?
E Jonas disse a ele: Amigo eu sou Hebreu
Com medo estou fugindo mais eu temo a Deus
Ao povo agora eu digo: Não precisa mais clamar
Lança-me nas águas e o mar se acalmará!
Mas um grande peixe logo o tragou
Foi ordem divina que Deus ordenou
E no ventre do peixe três dias ficou
Mas ele orou lá do ventre
E o peixe consciente na praia o lançou
E foi anunciar a palavra ao povo daquele lugar
E todos ouviram o que Jonas pregou
Até o grande rei a Deus se humilhou
Que ocupação é a tua, moço, de onde vens?
Qual é a tua terra, e de que povo és tu?
E Jonas disse a ele: Amigo eu sou Hebreu
Com medo estou fugindo mais eu temo a Deus
Ao povo agora eu digo: Não precisa mais clamar
Lança-me nas águas e o mar se acalmará!
