Beautiful Car
I was washing antique cars, working part-time for my dad after-school,
when I got the go-ahead to pick a car and spin around the neighborhood.
It was a baby blue '52 Roadstar
(it was a beautiful car).
That was the night I heard of the fighting
and the murder of the schoolmaster's son
(last year I asked him who he was afraid of and he answered "everyone")...
but did I even flinch a wrist? (should I have tried to undo what had been done ?)
now, that's just the way its gotta be
...I should never have to worry myself none.

Hermoso Auto
Estaba lavando autos antiguos, trabajando a medio tiempo para mi papá después de la escuela,
cuando me dieron luz verde para elegir un auto y dar una vuelta por el vecindario.
Era un Roadstar azul bebé del '52
(era un hermoso auto).
Esa fue la noche en la que escuché sobre la pelea
y el asesinato del hijo del maestro de escuela
(el año pasado le pregunté de quién tenía miedo y respondió 'de todos')...
pero ¿siquiera moví un dedo? (¿debería haber intentado deshacer lo que se había hecho?)
ahora, así es como tiene que ser
...no debería tener que preocuparme por nada.
