Uma tropa de peso, no potreiro se alvoroça
Na poça d'água esconde a marca dos cascos
O tropeiro encilha, pra ganhar as distâncias
Em seu trono de arreio, já antigo e gasto
Léguas de campo até chegar ao destino
Contraponteando simples sonhos pequenos
Rugas no rosto, tantas chuvas no lombo
Vários invernos, parceriando serenos
O tempo indelével cobra dele o preço
Não perdoa, nem concessões ele faz
O pealo da morte, um dia virá certeiro
Trazendo ao tropeiro, talvez sua paz
Por isso é que canto o valor desse homem
Que consome a vida, levando o gado alheio
Enquanto a amada o espera no rancho
Repleto de sonhos que partiram-se ao meio
A saudade acaba, nos olhos claros da linda
Ao ver um semblante cansado de lonjuras
Um quero-quero sentinela, anuncia a chegada
E nos braços da amada, o peão refaz sua figura
A volta foi longa, porém bem mais ligeira
Na ânsia tropeira de matar saudades da dona
E marcada na estrada pelas patas do baio

A troop of weight, stirs in the paddock
In the puddle of water hides the hoof marks
The drover saddles up, to cover the distances
In his worn and old saddle throne
Leagues of field until reaching the destination
Counterpointing simple small dreams
Wrinkles on the face, many rains on the back
Several winters, partnering serenely
Time indelible charges him the price
Does not forgive, nor does he make concessions
The blow of death, one day will come true
Bringing to the drover, perhaps his peace
That's why I sing the value of this man
Who consumes life, taking others' cattle
While the beloved one waits for him in the ranch
Full of dreams that shattered in half
The longing ends, in the clear eyes of the beautiful
Seeing a tired face from afar
A sentinel southern lapwing announces the arrival
