Quem dizes que eu sou? Jesus lhes perguntou
Simão Pedro, então, respondeu
Com a graça de Deus, pela fé
Tu és o messias, o filho do Deus vivo
O meu pai que está no céu
Revelou quem sou a ti, ó simão
Digo tu és Pedro, sobre esta pedra
Minha igreja irei construir
Eu te darei as chaves do reino do céus
O inferno vencê-la não irá!
Na terra, o que ligares ou também desligares
Em unidade estará com a igreja do céu!
He is the Son of God (Solemnity of Saint Peter and Saint Paul)
Who do you say I am? Jesus asked them
Simon Peter then replied
By the grace of God, through faith
You are the Messiah, the son of the living God
My father who is in heaven
Revealed to you who I am, oh Simon
I say you are Peter, upon this rock
My church I will build
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven
Hell will not prevail against it!
On earth, what you bind or also loose
Will be in unity with the church of heaven!
