Supplication

Adormecido, tenha talvez, quem sabe?
Pela janela aberta, a fria madrugada
Amortalhou-me a dor com o manto da garoa

Esperança morreste muito cedo
Saudade cedo demais chegaste

A taça do meu sofrer findaste
Meu doce e grande amor

Supplication

The cold steel of a dagger was your goodbye to me
Not believing the truth, I begged, I pleaded
The supplications died without an echo, in vain
Banging against the cold walls of the apartment

Numbness took over me and I became nothing more
Asleep, maybe, who knows?
Through the open window, the chilly dawn
Wrapped my pain in the cloak of the drizzle

Hope, you died way too soon
Longing, you arrived way too early
One leaves when the other always arrives
Crying, I have no tears left

Heart, why don’t you just shut up?
The cup of my suffering is full
It’s pointless to go on if I have no strength left
You know well that he was my life
My sweet and great love
