Silver Plain

Maria Bethânia

Planície de Prata

O sol se foi sem pressa,
Deixou o sol quase sem luz,
Até que veio outra estrela,
Brincar com meus olhos nus,
Não soube a resposta certa,
Assim solidão me traduz,
Meu coração de poeta,
Guardei nem sei mais onde pus,
A lua é uma porteira aberta,
Planície de prata onde eu me perdi,
Secreta foi a serenata,
Saudade maltrata,
Jamais te esqueci.

Silver Plain

The sun slipped away without a rush,
Left the sky almost without light,
Until another star came along,
To play with my naked eyes,
I didn’t know the right answer,
So loneliness translates me,
My poet's heart,
I’ve stored it, don’t even know where I put it,
The moon is an open gate,
Silver plain where I lost myself,
The serenade was a secret,
Nostalgia hurts,
I’ve never forgotten you.
