Mama Packed A Picnic Tea
It was on a sunny day in mid July
When a runaway train came tumbling down the line
And it happened very near to where we are
So we thought we'd take a trip there in the car
Next Sunday
Mama packed a picnic tea
And we went to see what we could see
And the people came from miles around
To gather souvenirs they found
And just before it got too dark
Father took a photograph
And we all agreed that it had been
The most exciting trip we'd seen
In the heavy rains a river overflowed
Burst its banks and drove the people from their homes
This occurred not very far from where we are
So we thought we'd take a trip there in the car
Next Sunday
Mama packed a picnic tea
And we went to see what we could see
And the people came from miles to stare
At the water, water everywhere
And we watched it from a little hill
Then my sister went and took a chill
But we all agreed it had been
The most exciting thing we'd seen
Not so very long ago one foggy night
A motorcar turned left instead of right
And the wreckage in a thousand pieces lay
And there’s hardly any need for me to say
Next Sunday

But we never reached our destiny
Cause we left the road at 93

And little of us could be found
But they all agreed that it had been
