The Father, the Son, and the Car

Poeta J Sousa

O Pai, o Filho e o Carro

Nesse poema se mostra
À força da prepotência
Os sintomas do rancor
E os gumes da violência
Se tornam desordenados
Na hora que são tomados
De encontro da inocência

Um garotinho brincava
Na frente da moradia
Enquanto seu pai voltava
Dos haveres que fazia
Encostava com carinho
Um automóvel zerinho
Que comprou naquele dia

Puro, com a inocência
De uma criança não sai
Essa criança caiu
Como qualquer outra cai
Frágil de raciocínio
Com pedaço de alumínio
Riscou o carro do pai

E continuou riscando
Sujando o carro de barro
Quando seu pai viu aquilo
Gritou bastante enrraivado
E com gesto de vingança
Pegou a mão da criança e
Bateu com força no carro

Feriu a mão da criança
Com uma pancada brutal
E daquele ferimento
Deu um tétano grande mal
Foi o menino coitado
Pelo mesmo pai levado
As pressas pra o hospital

Chegando no hospital
Não existiu outro jeito
Amputaram garoto
O seu bracinho direito
O pai sem pedir desculpa
Sentindo o peso da culpa
Fervendo dentro do peito

Voltaram do hospital
Lamentando a cada passo
A mãe sentindo tristeza
E o filho faltando um braço
O pai na sobra da calma
Queimava o manto da alma
Na fogueira do fracasso

Em casa perdeu o rumo
De tudo quando fazia
Não olhava mais pra o carro
Não comia e nem bebia
Debruçado numa mesa
Ouvindo a voz da tristeza
Gemendo na moradia

Um dia estava chorando
Sem ter sossego nem paz
Veio seu filho enxugar
Seus prantos sentimentais
E disse assim papaizinho
Quando crescer meu bracinho
Seu carro eu não risco mais

Quando ouviu essa frase
Não pode mais suportar
Preparou o suicídio
E disse: Eu vou me acabar
Minha viagem está pronta
Irei pagar minhas contas
Do tanto que Deus cobrar

The Father, the Son, and the Car

In this poem it shows
The force of arrogance
The symptoms of resentment
And the edges of violence
Become disordered
When they clash
With innocence

A little boy was playing
In front of the house
While his dad was coming back
From the errands he had done
He gently leaned
A brand new car
That he bought that day

Pure, with the innocence
Of a child, it doesn't leave
This child fell
Like any other child falls
Fragile in reasoning
With a piece of aluminum
Scratched his dad's car

And kept on scratching
Getting the car all muddy
When his dad saw that
He yelled out, really pissed
And in a vengeful gesture
He grabbed the child's hand and
Hit the car hard

He hurt the child's hand
With a brutal smack
And from that injury
He got a nasty tetanus
It was the poor boy
Taken by the same dad
In a rush to the hospital

Arriving at the hospital
There was no other way
They amputated the boy
His right little arm
The dad without saying sorry
Feeling the weight of guilt
Boiling inside his chest

They returned from the hospital
Mourning with every step
The mom feeling sadness
And the son missing an arm
The dad in the calm's aftermath
Burned the cloak of his soul
In the fire of failure

At home he lost his way
In everything he did
He no longer looked at the car
He neither ate nor drank
Leaning over a table
Hearing the voice of sadness
Moaning in the house

One day he was crying
Without peace or rest
His son came to wipe
His sentimental tears
And said, "Daddy dear
When I grow up, my little arm
I won't scratch your car anymore."

When he heard that phrase
He couldn't take it anymore
He prepared for suicide
And said: "I'm done
My journey is ready
I will settle my debts
For all that God will charge."
