A person has all sorts of lags built into him
One, the most basic, is the sensory lag,
The lag between the time your senses receive
Something and you're able to react.
One thirtieth-of-a-second is the time it takes,
If you're the most person alive,
And most people are a lot slower than that.
YOU CAN'T GO ANY FASTER THAN THAT!
We are all doomed to spend our lives
Watching a movie of our lives
We are always acting on what
Has just finished happening.
It happened at least 1/30th of a second ago.
We think we are at the present, but we aren't.
The present we know is just a movie of the past,
And we will never be able to control
The present through ordinary means.
That lag has to be overcome through some other way,
Through some kind of total breakthrough.
If you ever make that breakthrough, you'll know it.
It'll be like you had a player piano,
And it's playing a mile a minute,
With all the keys sinking in front of you in fantastic chords,
And you never heard of the song before,
But you're so far into the thing,
Your hands start going along with it exactly.
When you make that breakthrough,
Then you'll start controlling the piano...

Uno, el más básico, es el retraso sensorial,

Pensamos que estamos en el presente, pero no lo estamos.
El presente que conocemos es solo una película del pasado,
Y nunca podremos controlar
El presente a través de medios ordinarios.
Ese retraso debe ser superado de alguna otra manera,
A través de algún tipo de avance total.
Si alguna vez logras ese avance, lo sabrás.
Será como si tuvieras un piano automático,
Y está tocando a toda velocidad,
Con todas las teclas hundiéndose frente a ti en acordes fantásticos,
Y nunca antes habías escuchado la canción,
Pero estás tan metido en la cosa,
Que tus manos comienzan a seguirlo exactamente.
Cuando logres ese avance,
Entonces comenzarás a controlar el piano...
