Plastic Dove
My own eyes did see, my love
From the neighbor's cat you stole
It's plastic white little dove
To let it fly
Let it fly
But it's wings were all gnawed at
And it's feathers all torn out
No wonder it couldn't jet

From the doors cat flap
The wisdom of a child

Just like the blind that cannot see
Except in their fantasy
So we rigged up pretty new wings
Out of feathers from the woods
And it still wouldn't fly
Only made some funny squeaking
When you pressed it's belly
But you kept on believing

In my fantasy I saw the little dove
Climbing up the barn
Spreading it's new wings to show
That reality's made of fantasies
And this morning I found two dove feathers on my windowsill
It was gone

Paloma de Plástico
Mis propios ojos vieron, mi amor
Del gato del vecino robaste
Es una pequeña paloma blanca de plástico
Para dejarla volar
Déjala volar
Pero sus alas estaban todas mordidas
Y sus plumas todas arrancadas
No es de extrañar que no pudiera volar

Desde la solapa del gato
La sabiduría de un niño
Estoy corriendo libre contigo de nuevo
Escapando de todo este ruido

Así que improvisamos nuevas alas bonitas
De plumas del bosque
Y aún así no volaba
Solo hacía unos ruidos graciosos
Cuando presionabas su barriga

En mi fantasía vi a la pequeña paloma
Subiendo por el granero
Extendiendo sus nuevas alas para mostrar
Que la realidad está hecha de fantasías
Y esta mañana encontré dos plumas de paloma en mi alféizar
Se había ido
