Don't be afraid it's only business
The alien prophet sighed
The vulture and the magpie took
The cash box from its hook
The monkey in the corner wrote
The figures in his book
Crazed the checkout lady's fingers
Flash across the till
And the caption posts
The menu of the day
And in banks across the world
Christians Moslems Hindus Jews
And people of every
Race creed colour tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The racoon and the groundhog
Neatly make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he´s slowly drifting out of range
Christ it´s freezing inside
The veteran cries
The hyenas break cover
And stream through the meadow
And the fog rolls in
Through his bottle of gin
So he picks up a stone
That looks like a bone
And the bullets fly
And the rivers run dry
And the fat girls sigh
And the network anchor persons lie
And the soldier's alone
In the video zone
But the monkey's not watching
He's slipped out to the kitchen
To pile the dishes
And answer the phone

Wees niet bang, het is maar zaken
De buitenaardse profeet zuchtte
De gier en de ekster namen
De kas uit zijn haak
De aap in de hoek schreef
De cijfers in zijn boek
De vingers van de kassière raasden
Over de kassa heen
En de tekst plaatst
Het menu van de dag
En in banken over de wereld
Christenen, moslims, hindoes, joden
En mensen van elke
Ras, geloof, kleur, tint of schaduw
Gaan op hun knieën en bidden
De wasbeer en de grondhond
Maken netjes zakken met kleingeld
Maar de aap in de hoek
Die drijft langzaam uit beeld
Christus, het is ijskoud binnen
De veteraan roept
De hyena's breken uit
En stromen door de weide
En de mist komt binnen
Via zijn fles gin
Dus pakt hij een steen
Die eruitziet als een bot
En de kogels vliegen
En de rivieren drogen op
En de dikke meisjes zuchten
En de nieuwsankers liegen
En de soldaat is alleen
In de videowereld
Maar de aap kijkt niet
Hij is naar de keuken geslopen
Om de afwas te doen
En de telefoon op te nemen
