The Rose
In mother earth's garden
A flower was growing
Her blossoms as red as the love in her soul
But along came a Daisy with a heart of fool's gold
And petals as white as a lie could be told
The Daisy was parched
He begged her for drink
He wept and he groveled right there at her feet
The flower obliged with a soft-hearted grin
She bent her own stem to give nectar to him
If only she noticed how deeply he drank
The Daisy grew taller while she only sank
He spread out his leaves and he beckoned the shade
A cover so thick no light could penetrate
She pleaded with him
He ignored all her cries
He stood like a tower his head held so high
The flower was stunned, she was spurned and betrayed
Alone in the darkness, she flew in a rage
She hardened her skin and grew out her thorns
So no other Daisy could hurt her anymore
But she kept her blush red to this very day
So she'd never forget all the love she misplaced
So the next time you see Daisies in bloom
Don't stop for a gander just keep walking through (keep walking through)
And the next time you see a Rose of red stain
Just know that her beauty was not without pain
La Rosa
En el jardín de la madre tierra
Una flor estaba creciendo
Sus flores tan rojas como el amor en su alma
Pero llegó una Margarita con un corazón de oro falso
Y pétalos tan blancos como una mentira podría ser contada
La Margarita estaba sedienta
Él le rogaba por un trago
Lloraba y se arrastraba justo a sus pies
La flor accedió con una sonrisa de corazón blando
Inclinó su propio tallo para darle néctar a él
Si tan solo ella notara cuánto bebía
La Margarita crecía más mientras ella solo se hundía
Él extendió sus hojas y llamó a la sombra
Una cobertura tan densa que ninguna luz podía penetrar
Ella le suplicaba
Él ignoraba todos sus llantos
Se mantenía como una torre con la cabeza bien alta
La flor estaba atónita, fue despreciada y traicionada
Sola en la oscuridad, volaba en furia
Ella endureció su piel y creció sus espinas
Para que ninguna otra Margarita pudiera lastimarla más
Pero mantuvo su rubor rojo hasta el día de hoy
Para que nunca olvidara todo el amor que perdió
Así que la próxima vez que veas Margaritas floreciendo
No te detengas a mirar, solo sigue caminando (solo sigue caminando)
Y la próxima vez que veas una Rosa manchada de rojo
Solo sabe que su belleza no fue sin dolor
