Song Of Job
[spoken]
Hear now the tale of Job, a righteous man, who had a loving wife,
And ten sons and seven daughters. His fields were always ripe
With wheat and corn. He had ten thousand camels and five thousand sheep
And three thousand head of oxen. At sunrise
You would find him on his knees singing, "Yahweh Yehoa".
Well, one day in the court of heaven,
All the heavenly host were gathered there in the presence of the Lord,
And Satan was there among them.
[sung]
Satan went to God, and God said, "Satan, Where you been?"
Satan said, "I been on Earth, among men."
God said, "You must have seen my faithful servant, Job.
You must have seen his worth and how he's evil's foe."
Job is evil's foe. Yes, he is.
Satan said, "Well, yes, God, Job is your man.
But if you struck him, God, well, what would he do then?
He'd turn his back on you and curse your name right to your face."
God said, "Allright, Bub, go and test his faith --
Go and try Job's faith."
"O my God, O my God," cried poor Job.
"I have lost everything I owned.
I lost my cattle, I lost my land.
You took my children, too.
I'm losin' my mind and the love of my wife,
But I keep my faith in You.
I still have faith in You.
"O my God, O my God," can't you hear Job?
He's singin', "This world can no more be my home.
My so-called friends speak biting words,
Telling me what to do.
My health is gone, I cannot rest,
But I keep my faith in You.
I still have faith in You."
[spoken]
And Job's friends, they called to one another,
"Brothers! Righteous Job has fallen.
Come, let us go and give him what we can."
Long, long they journeyed until they found Job
In the ashes of his burned-out farm.
And they sat down with him for seven days and nights in silence,
For they saw that he had suffered greatly.
But at last they could hold back no longer,
And with accusing fingers pointed at him they said,
"Oh, Job, what evil have you done to bring God's wrath upon you?"
And at this time, down the road comes Elihu,
What took one look and thought he had the whole scene covered!
Waaaaow!
[sung]
That young man lectured Job until Job's poor heart near broke,
And from the whirlin' wind, God Himself spoke,
Sayin', "Who're these who claim to know my workings and all my ways?
Job has proved his faith and shall live joyous days."
Yes, Job lived joyful days. Oh, yes, he did

Écoutez maintenant l'histoire de Job, un homme juste, qui avait une femme aimante,
et dix fils et sept filles. Ses champs étaient toujours mûrs

Dieu a dit, "Tu as dû voir mon fidèle serviteur, Job.
Tu as dû voir sa valeur et comment il est l'ennemi du mal."
Job est l'ennemi du mal. Oui, c'est vrai.
Satan a dit, "Eh bien, oui, Dieu, Job est ton homme.
Mais si tu le frappes, Dieu, que fera-t-il alors ?
Il te tournerait le dos et maudirait ton nom en plein visage."
Dieu a dit, "D'accord, mon pote, va et teste sa foi --
Va et essaie la foi de Job."
"Ô mon Dieu, ô mon Dieu," cria le pauvre Job.
"J'ai perdu tout ce que je possédais.
J'ai perdu mon bétail, j'ai perdu ma terre.
Tu as pris mes enfants aussi.
Je perds la tête et l'amour de ma femme,
Mais je garde ma foi en Toi.
J'ai encore foi en Toi.
"Ô mon Dieu, ô mon Dieu," n'entends-tu pas Job ?
Il chante, "Ce monde ne peut plus être ma maison.
Mes soi-disant amis parlent avec des mots venimeux,
Me disant quoi faire.
Ma santé est partie, je ne peux pas me reposer,
Mais je garde ma foi en Toi.
J'ai encore foi en Toi."
[parlé]
Et les amis de Job, ils s'appelaient les uns les autres,
"Frères ! Le juste Job est tombé.
Venez, allons lui donner ce que nous pouvons."
Longtemps, longtemps ils ont voyagé jusqu'à ce qu'ils trouvent Job
Dans les cendres de sa ferme brûlée.
Et ils s'assirent avec lui pendant sept jours et nuits en silence,
Car ils voyaient qu'il avait beaucoup souffert.
Mais enfin, ils ne pouvaient plus se retenir,
et avec des doigts accusateurs pointés vers lui, ils dirent,
"Oh, Job, quel mal as-tu fait pour attirer la colère de Dieu sur toi ?"
Et à ce moment-là, au bout de la route vient Elihu,
Qui jeta un coup d'œil et pensa avoir compris toute la scène !
Waaaaow !

Ce jeune homme a sermonné Job jusqu'à ce que le pauvre cœur de Job soit sur le point de craquer,
et du vent tourbillonnant, Dieu Lui-même a parlé,
Disant, "Qui sont ceux qui prétendent connaître mes œuvres et tous mes chemins ?
Job a prouvé sa foi et vivra des jours joyeux."
Oui, Job a vécu des jours joyeux. Oh, oui, il l'a fait.
