Fomos arrastados pelas ondas, sob um céu ameaçador
Em águas de naufrágio e lágrimas
Através das ondas, voltaremos
Deslizando em um mar calmo
Para enfrentar os furacões e as nossas tristezas
Meu povo trilhou caminhos perigosos
Mas seus pés não hesitam
Séculos de nostalgia e de dor nos colocarão num caminho da liberdade
E transformaremos essas águas de tristeza em águas de amor
Deus, afaste a praga do meu povo
E nos permita conhecer o fim da estação mortal
Depois da qual tudo viverá novamente
E florescerá
Em breve chegaremos aos altos platôs da Etiópia
Onde tudo começou
Onde não há lugar para a guerra
E ninguém conhece a palavra raça
Onde a chuva purificadora
