Todas tardes no meu ranchinho
Tocando e cantando eu me distraía
Cavalo comendo eu me descansava
Assim eu levava a vida sozinho
Dentro do paiol pendurei meu arreio
A minha viola coitada
Sand Castle
My guitar was made of pine
With it I had pleasure and joy
Every afternoon in my little ranch
Playing and singing I would distract myself
I have my horse, a beautiful roan
A cattle of breed that I selected
In the evening I would give him some corn
Horse eating, I would rest
That's how I led my life alone
I only distracted myself with the livestock
A neighbor came to live there
Who had a daughter of beautiful appearance
When I saw the brunette, what a beautiful girl
I noticed sympathy in her lovely gaze
I felt a strange pain in my chest
We decided right there to get married
I got married in the chapel, we came to the farm
My companion lasted so little
She died and left my hut
And happiness ended for me
I was happy living alone
But fate wanted me to have a love
I built my castle, today my heart yearns
It was all made of sand and collapsed
I let my horse loose in the pastures
I hung my saddle inside the barn
My poor guitar
Is hanging high on the post
And my life has already changed
From a garden of flowers to a thorny road
But always with faith in our Lord
Again I lead my life alone
